Sam trained at the University of Southampton specialising in musical theatre performance and musical direction. Having studied classical and jazz piano throughout his degree, his studies culminated with a final performance of Jason Robert Brown's masterpiece, The Last Five Years, which he musical directed and produced himself, achieving top marks and critical acclaim. Sam is a professional musical director and musician who is based in Southampton, UK, and currently works as musical director for Headliners Theatre Company, P&O Cruises' in-house theatre company and Royal Court Theatre Company, Cunard's in-house theatre company. He also works as a musical director, pianist, keyboard player, choir master, arranger and composer across Hampshire, in London and across the UK.

 

Some of Sam's engagements have included Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow White, Beauty and The Beast and Jack and The Beanstalk (Palace Theatre, Redditch), Top Hat (Silverblue Entertainment), Jess Robinson: Impressive (Pleasance, Edinburgh Fringe Festival), A-Z of Musicals and Little Shop of Horrors (Theatre Royal, Winchester), Macbeth - YMT (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Loserville (Camberly Theatre), Soul Music - YMT (Rose Theatre, Kingston) and The Full Monty (Theatre Royal, Winchester). As well as this, Sam has worked on the professional debut of the new musical Tomorrow, Maybe (Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Bridge House Theatre, London) and has also performed alongside West-End stars Kerry Ellis and Ian Stroughair. Whilst at university, he was involved in shows such as Parade, FAME, 13, Little Shop of Horrors, Guys And Dolls and Merrily We Roll Along.
